Landericus Of Metz
The 3rd Landry
LANDERICUS (LANDRY) of Metz. The third Landry recorded in history. He was the eldest son of St. Vincent Madelgarius (Madelgarus) and St. Waldetrudis (Waldetrud). From 641 to 650 A.D., he was a missionary Bishop of Meaux, in the region of Brussels, particularly "in Meltis Costellun".
After the death of his father, the abbot of Soignies, Landricus resigned his see in order to undertake the government of the abbey and became the Abbot of Saignes (Hainault, Belgium) and of Haumont (Nord, France).
He died ca 700 A.D. "A Dictionary of Saints" Based on Butler's Lives of the Saints, compiled by Daonald Attwater on page 160) His relics are in the collegiate Church of Soigniers. There is a local cult to him there, as well as Melsbrock. His vita was written in Sogniers in the 11th century or earlier (E. Bronette) Acts6/2; 289-291.
