GUILLOT
The GUILLOT family of Avoyelles can be traced back to France through Pierre Guillot , a native of Lyon, France. Pierre called Dufresne was born ca.1730. He married Marguerite Richard, the daughter of Jean Richard and Jeanne Gauthier. Pierre and his family were at Pointe Coupee from 1750 to 1764. It is known that five children were born from this union. Pierre died ca1764.
Mathurin Guillot , the youngest son of Pierre and Marguerite, and his family moved to Avoyelles in ca1785 on land located nearby the present town of Hessmer.
