GAUTHIER
Rene GAUTHIER was a native of Moulines, France. He was born the son of Michael Gauthier and Margaret Peletier. Rene was a soldier of the Company of the Indies when he came to Louisiana from LaRochelle, France, aboard the vessel "LaMarie" in 1719. He is shown on the passenger list as 18 years old, from St. Hilaire Parish, Normandy. This places his birth at about 1701. It appears that he served as a soldier until his death on April 25, 1758.
Rene was married at the Natchitoches Post on November 5, 1742, to Jeanne Laurent, daughter of Pierre Laurent and Elizabeth Pebos. There was issue of four children from this marriage. After the death of Rene, his widow remarried at Pointe Coupee Post on November 16, 1761.
Guillaume Rene Gauthier , son of Rene and Jeanne, was born at Natchitoches Post on January 4, 1750. He was married at Pointe Coupee Post on February 1, 1773, to Elizabeth Hennet (Enet), daughter of Joseph Hennet and Elizabeth Roy. Elizabeth Roy, daughter of Rene Roy and Agnes Phillippe, married Joseph Hennet, a native of Switzerland and soldier at Fort de Chartres. Joseph was the son of Francois Hennet and Marianne Charpin of Fort de Chartres. Joseph and Elizabeth were married at St. Anne's Church, Fort Chartres, on January 11, 1752. Elizabeth Hennet was born about 1752 and died in March, 1791, at Pointe Coupee Post.
There was issue of nine children between Guillaume and Elizabeth.
