Johann (Jean)FREDERIC,de Traitac, a German surgeon who served in the early days of Louisiana, provides a German connection for descendants of some Avoyelles families. Johann Frederic, also Frederick, is described in various documents as a German surgeon;de Traitac, which is possibly his birthplace. He is also described as a resident of Carlestin in the German Parish. Johann Frederic was born in 1700 and died before 1750. He married Marie Catherine de Boulair.
There were three children born to this couple. From the baptisms and marriages of these children, it is known that Johann went from New Orleans to German Coast of Louisiana, to the Natchez Post, and to Fort de Chartres, Illinois.
