DUCOTE Hoot

The first DUCOTE in Louisiana was Pierre Ducote called Coureur. He was a native of Flanders, France.

Pierre married Antoinette, an Indian, after arriving in Louisiana. Antoinette died at Pointe Coupee on September 1, 1747. Record of this marriage has not been found.

Pierre later married Marie Magdeline Cable, a native of Germany, on January 23, 1749. She was born in 1716 in the Champagne District of France to Leonard Cable and Catherine Wolf. There were two children between this union.

Pierre II and his family moved to the Avoyelles Post from Pointe Coupee in the general migration as early as 1783. He listed his occupation as carpenter.
