BOFTZ
Daniel BOFTZ, an early settler of St. Charles Parish on the lower German Coast, provides the "German connection" for many people of Avoyelles. Daniel was a native of Cassen, Diocese of Spire, Germany.
According to the census of 1724, he was living with his father-in-law Simon Kuhn just north of New Orleans, on the Mississippi River. Daniel was then 20 years old, placing his date of birth at about 1704. Daniel and his wife, Marie Eve Kuhn, had two children

In 1727, Daniel married for a second time to Anne Marie Werich, a native of Lampaitz, German Lorraine. She was the Daughter of Nicholas Werich and his wife, Anne Marie. It is apparent that Daniel and family moved to Pointe Coupee Post where Anne Marie Werich died on June 20, 1750.
Daniel and Anne Marie had issue of five children, all daughters. Daniel died and was buried at Baton Rouge on March 15, 1758.
