Dr. Adrian A. Landry

Dr. Adrian A. Landry, Physician and Sugar Planter. Born December 4, 1873, at Paincourtville, La., the son of Desiree Pierre Landry and Cordelia Dugas. Desiree was a sugar planter in the Paincourtville area and had ties to Nottoway Plantation.

Adrian was the third of five children born to Desiree and Cordelia. He attended Jefferson College in Convent, La. receiving a B.A. degree. He then entered the medical department of Tulane, class of 1897.

Following the completion of his education, he began the practice of medicine at Paincourtville later moving his practice to Plaquamine. Dr. Landry was a member of the Iberville Parish Medical Society, the Lousiana State Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the Charity Hospital Alumni Association, the Knights of Columbus, Woodmen of the World, Order of Eagles, and a member of the Catholic Church.

In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Landry had some plantation interest with his brothers. Dr. Landry was married to Miss Celeste Barker, the daughter of James L. Barker and Elmire Fau. They had issue of seven children.
